Hi Expert,
Currently we are implementing APM for one of our client who already has ITOM specific discovery in place. I am new to this DIscovery world i need some standard practices on how to integrate Discovery while implementing APM.
Do we really need any integration or it is just pulling a CI's from Application table and display on the APM Dashboard.

Hi,
For Technical Service you will get the data from discovery but what about the applications and there relationship with Services in organisation. This requires Service mapping. It scans from Top i.e. entry point till both of the Service.
SO in short no only discovery wont serve your purpose you need proper cmdb with business service and their relationship with CIs.
Thanks,
Ashutosh

Hi,
So basically if you look at the APM module
YOu need Discovery and Servicemapping which should discover all your Service's in organisation. So in Application Portfolio management its visible and you can do analysis, planning, Risk assessment of that particular application i.e. business application.
For TPM It uses SAM and Discovery and fort APM it uses Service Mapping.
This helps stakeholders and decision makers to do investment, save cost by looking at the APM maps.
One important point about TPM is it is closely related to product models for life-cycle management like Sql database, Publisher packs. APM is directly related to business applications. So if you have a demand and projects then you can link that with APM to check the costing.
Thanks,
Ashutosh

Hi
currently we do not have SAM plugin installed and we do not have Service Mapping too.
In my case how to proceed ? Is there any additional integration we need to configure ? or as you suggested all will be by default set in Discovered Business Services & Application Services ?

Hi,
You then need to manually maintain the business service and applications. Business Application needs relations with real time CI so you get proper results. Also you need to create relations with BS, CI and Applications, which is not easy.

So with the Discovery we cannot pull the real time data on APM Dashboard is that what you mean to say ?
