Hi,
I am working with our IT Equipment team to set-up HAM base model in our ServiceNow Environment. My IT Equipment team is asking if it is possible to have "many" Lifecycles to "one" Hardware Product Model. My thought is no, and that you can only have one "Internal" and one "Publisher" lifecycle. The issue we have is that for any given hardware product model for example we have a Dell Latitude 5290 hardware model, this model has been purchased at many different time periods and that that come with different Lifecycles from the vendor. How would you manage this scenario? Should this be monitored via a warranty date? If yes, how would the warranty date work and how would we use the warrant date in conjunction with lifecycles for that hardware model? Is there any automation for this effort in the Base HAM instance?
Thank you for any insight that you can provide.
Kind regards,

Hi Lisa,
Since assets are purchased at different times, individual asset lifecycle dates should be calculated relative to their purchase date rather than the model-level data.
Options to Populate Asset Lifecycle Dates
Use Purchase Date + Standard Lifecycle Duration
Example: If a laptop model has a 3-year warranty, set Warranty Expiration = Purchase Date + 3 years.
Configure this in Asset Management with Business Rules or Scheduled Jobs.
Automate Updates Using Flow Designer / Business Rules
Create a Business Rule to:
Fetch lifecycle dates from the model.
Adjust based on Purchase Date.
Use Discovery & CMDB for Real-Time Tracking
If assets are auto-discovered, ensure updates happen based on last seen date or Install Date.
