While many manufacturers have invested in automation tools, daily operations still rely on legacy knowledge, manual data recording, and manual execution of standard operating procedures (SOPs). In an era of connected manufacturing, this approach doesn’t scale, especially with increasing cybersecurity threats, a coming wave of worker retirements, and a need to maximize the productivity of people and systems. In addition, these processes are rife with the potential for unplanned downtime.
ServiceNow unifies systems, data, and teams in one system of action, empowering manufacturers to gain the resilience, flexibility, and speed they need to deliver results and thrive in a rapidly evolving market.
In Rome, we are releasing two new product families to address these priorities - Operational Technology Management (OTM) and Manufacturing Connected Workforce.
Safeguard And Manage OT Systems Across Your Manufacturing Operations
As the OT environment becomes more digitally interconnected, so are the dependencies between devices. ServiceNow Operational Technology Management (OTM) provides a complete and contextual view of OT systems, so you can keep them secure—and up and running. Then, you can connect your operational technology to production processes and digital workflows to rapidly respond and recover from any incident or change.
These two products are available as part of the solution:
- OT Foundation: Build a solid data foundation and eliminate data silos by aggregating OT assets and IT assets information on the OT network from multiple sources into a centralized CMDB. It utilizes the Purdue Model to define the different levels of critical infrastructure used in production lines.
- OT Visibility: Gain a contextual view of your discovered OT asset relationships and criticality with production process mapping capability and ISA-95 standard, making it easy to manage the OT environment and assess potential production impacts fast.
Gain greater visibility on production processes and dependencies of discovered OT assets. Govern as a part of Service Graphs/CMDBs common service data model and table structure, so all data elements are appropriately handled.
In the upcoming Q4 store releases, we expect to add OT Vulnerability Response and OT Service Management to the OTM product family.

Reimagine The Factory Floor For The Manufacturing Workforce
Upskilling talents and capturing institutional knowledge with digital tools are becoming increasingly critical as many workers retire and many manufacturing positions remain unfilled. ServiceNow Manufacturing Connected Workforce is designed to empower your workforce with the digital tools and knowledge to adapt, collaborate, and excel in fast-changing conditions.
The Manufacturing Connected Workforce family starts with the Manufacturing Foundation, which supports the digital mapping of manufacturing operations processes, systems, and relationships utilizing the ISA-95 standard to integrate enterprise and control systems. With a better understanding of the production environment, manufacturers can better manage their resources, improve efficiency, and assist with compliance.
Once production processes and systems are mapped, manufacturers can use low-code and no-code App Engine that enables their plant workers to execute their daily activities, such as collaboration, report issues, extend troubleshooting, problem-solving, and situational decision-making in real-time.
The app screens above can be built with App Engine. Manufacturing pre-build out-of-box app will release in the near future. App Engine entitlement with Manufacturing Foundation is limited to pre-built out-of-the-box roles.
