Our teams have been working hard to make our mobile-first experiences more flexible, customizable, and consumer like. In Rome we build on a strong Quebec release with three strategic themes for mobile: enhancing the developer experience, creating immersive user experiences and unlocking new users & use cases. Be sure to register for our Rome release webinar on October 6th to learn more!
Enhancing the developer experience
We'll kick things off with enhancing the developer experience which is highlighted by the release of Mobile App Builder
Our mobile team is very excited to introduce Mobile App Builder, a brand new, all-in-one builder for everything mobile. Built on the Now Design System, Mobile App Builder brings a simplified interface, immersive previews, and powerful controls for your mobile workflows. Developers can easily configure and build ServiceNow iOS & Android mobile apps in a familiar, intuitive environment.
Mobile App Builder addresses much of the feedback we’ve received with features like:
- Seamless organization of everything you’ll need in an easy-to-navigate structure.
- Simplified experiences like: guiding users to appropriate record relationships, preventing invalid configuration choices, and auto-populating fields when creating child-record relationships.
- Transparency to quickly see how records connect with one another and tie into the overall mobile configuration.
Install Mobile App Builder today from the ServiceNow Store.
As security remains a top priority for our mobile teams, we’ve added a much requested feature in Mobile Re-authentication. As the name suggests, this lets admins enable re-authentication as a type of a pre-condition before a user executes an action. When enabled, users are required to re-authenticate themselves by providing their credentials to meet compliance standards and for an extra level of security.
There are also a plethora of other enhancements to form screens, parameter screens, mobile filters, and UI rules to name a few.

Unlock new opportunities and mobile use cases
As our mobile workflows become increasingly critical to our customers, we strive to unlock new opportunities and use cases that expand our capabilities.
We begin with a look at external user support. In Rome you can grant external users, like vendors, permissions to login and use ServiceNow Mobile apps. External users will be able to perform tasks like creating, editing, and managing incidents as well as accessing knowledge base articles. With security a top priority, external users are still restricted in their abilities to perform actions reserved for internal users and admins.
Refine and improve user experiences
To round out the Mobile in the Rome release, we wanted to highlight a number of updates to refine and improve user experiences with our apps.
With the release of Employee Center, the core Now Mobile employee experience has also been updated to include a new support tab and many other UI + taxonomy changes. Now Mobile and Employee Center are available across workflows, so be sure to check out their blogs as well for more information.
To learn more about getting started with Now Mobile, we recently aired a Mobile App Academy that will teach you everything you need to know.
As returning to an office becomes part of a new work life routine, our expectations for consumer grade mobile experiences does not change. Asset Reservations is now a native and easily configurable mobile workflow which lets employees find, reserve, and manage workplace assets. Request conference rooms, desks, parking, and more plus services like cleaning or catering.
Forcing mobile users to switch from a native app to open a web page in a separate browser is a terrible, frustrating experience. Universal Linking will now open most of your instance content within s ServiceNow mobile app instead of a web browser, providing a more intuitive and less disruptive experience.
We are sunsetting the standalone Mobile Onboarding app, but fear not! All onboarding workflows and new hire experiences have been consolidated in the Now Mobile app where all employees can find answers and get stuff done across departments. To learn more about getting started with Now Mobile, we recently aired a Mobile App Academy that will teach you everything you need to know.
Every release our Mobile teams strive to enhance experiences, provide better tools, and make it easier for teams across industries to embrace mobile as a core component of their workflows. Many of these enhancements are driven by you! Thank you for all of your feedback and support in our Community and across our other channels. Please see the Mobile release notes for more information or post any questions you may have below.
