Hi All,
We are trying to get an understanding of how "Products" are defined in ServiceNow, the purpose and usage. We have found very little documentation. Before setting Products up in ServiceNow, we would like to understand it better. Before building the wrong model and it propagates across our other ServiceNow modules. Can anyone shed light on this?
We are setting up the Epic / Themes also.
Our understanding is:
Product: represents items under development (new applications/features)
Epics: are going to have many stories
Themes: are associated with business value, to keep track of organizational goals
Thanks,
Kathy

Hello,
Here are the following
Product - Nothing but Project kind of thing, Like all HR stories can be combined under product 'HRSD' and all ITSM can be combined under 'ITSM' product like that.
Epic - Stories for which sprint is not yet decided, In Agile sprint is of two weeks so epic is nothing but Stories that may come in future sprints.
Theme - Particular modules like 'Change' 'Incident' 'HR Case' 'HR Task' all these you can consider as Theme.
Suppose you got a requirement to work on story which is related to Incident management but sprint not yet decided then you will see following
Product - ITSM
Epic - Story number
Theme - Incident

Hi
A product is anything that can be offered to a market to solve a problem, or to satisfy a want or need. Products have a cycle that consists of multiple stages.
Epic : An epic is a large body of work that can be broken down into a number of smaller stories.
Themes : A theme is a wide area of focus that helps an Agile team to keep track of their organizational goals — think of it as a label that can be used to group similar activities. A theme helps to define the common characteristics between different areas and unite them under one heading.
Epics are simply a collection of related User Stories, whereas Themes are broad areas of focus with an associated business value.
Mark my answer correct & Helpful, if Applicable.
Thanks,
Sandeep
