Entering Queries and Interaction
When typing a query, Analytics Q&A provides suggestions based on recent searches and accessible indicators, tables, and columns, ensuring users only see data they have permission to access. If the system is unsure about the intended table, it prompts the user to select from up to three likely options, refining the query for accurate results.
Results and Visualizations
- Query results are displayed in various visualization formats such as lists, trends, single scores, bar charts, or pie charts. If no visualization is specified, Analytics Q&A selects the most appropriate one automatically.
- All results adhere to role-based ACL security, with reporting and Performance Analytics security applied as appropriate.
- For indicator-based queries, trend lines are shown by default, but users can opt to view only the current data instead of trends.
- Hovering over charts provides detailed information about breakdowns, and clicking on values in indicator visualizations opens detailed KPI information.
Query Details and Feedback
Along with results, Analytics Q&A displays relevant query details such as the source table, units, aggregation methods, grouping columns, date fields, and applied conditions. Users can provide feedback on query results via thumbs up/down options, which helps improve the query parser and logging capabilities. Note that feedback is only available when multiple query suggestions are used.
Creating New Queries and Enhancing Queries
Users can start new queries or view recent KPIs through the interface. Queries should use specific keywords to define the type, scope, filters, and other parameters for better accuracy. ServiceNow AI Platform administrators can enhance query effectiveness by adding synonyms and semantic shortcuts for keywords, improving natural language understanding and response relevance.

Hold your cursor over the chart to get more information about breakdowns. In a time series trend, you get the values for all the breakdowns on the selected day. In a column chart of the latest scores, you get the score of the breakdown you select. If the result is a visualization for an indicator, click on a value to open the indicator in KPI Details.
