Make any Business Unit and Department inactive

Hi Team,

 

I am new to ServiceNow and have got a task in hand.

 

Business has gone through a major change and there are a lot of updates to Business Units and Department. What we should do with business units/departments which is no longer needed. I can't make any of these fields inactive. If I put a note *Do Not Use** in front of the names it does not look professional as it is still visible.

 

What is the best practice when we need to reduce business units and departments in ServiceNow?

Business Unit, Department table doesn't have active flag to filter them out. Please refer the thread below, it might give you some ideas.
