Discovery/virtual desktops/active directory

At my current client they have a lot of virtual desktops (non-persistent VDI`s). We would like to be able to discover these VDI`s but since they are non-persistent they have an IP that changes each time the user logs in.

The information (ie disk space, RAM, installed software, etc) about the virtual desktop is stored in active directory.   So, I have two possible solutions:

1. Configure Discovery to read this information from AD, if possible.

2. Use the LDAP integration to get this info from AD, use a transform map to add the information to the appropriate CI table

I would appreciate feedback from anyone that can tell me if option 1 is possible, and if so, how.   If anyone has suggestions for alternate solutions I am open to that as well.

Merci!

The best case scenario is probably using the Help the Helpdesk javascript and have it embedded into the VDI image and tied to the login scripts. That way you don't have to worry about Discovery catching every session each time as it works independently.

I would never have thought of that, Andrew.   I will certainly investigate this possibility. Thanks!
