Using teams email address in notifications

I have a requirement to send emails to Teams channels. Upon reading in Microsoft site this is not possible if teams is part of Office 365 Government plan. Has anyone done this for teams in this plan?

you can't send emails on teams channel.

Could not be done as GOV version doesn't allow it
