Using a Now Assist AI web agent in Now Assist panel

    • Access a Now Assist AI web agent using the Now Assist panel. Use the web agent to perform a task in the background on an external website.

    Vorbereitungen

    • You must have the ServiceNow Web Automation browser extension installed in your Google Chrome locally. For information see Install the browser extension for Now Assist AI web agents.
    • Confirm the name of the workflow that uses Now Assist AI web agent. You might need to select this workflow by name in Now Assist panel. Your ServiceNow administrator has configured this workflow.
    • Role required: You must be in a user group or role that has been granted access to Now Assist AI web agents. Contact your ServiceNow administrator to request access.

    A Now Assist AI web agent can perform a task for you on a third-party website. The web agent opens the website in a separate browser tab in the background, and reports its actions to you in Now Assist panel. During the process the website may require credentials for a login or acceptance of terms. In such cases the web agent asks you to switch to the website's browser window temporarily so you can enter the required information.

    You can start using a Now Assist AI web agent from Now Assist panel when your ServiceNow Web Automation browser extension is connected to your instance.

    Here are tips for writing successful requests for the LLM:
    • Be sure to provide the URL to your target website, using the format https://www.example.com or example.com.
    • Make your request clear. Specify your goal.
    • List steps to achieve the goal, if possible.
    Examples of tasks you can request:
    • Can you find the best coffeemaker on amazon.com?
    • Can you find the latest invoice from invoiceninja.com?
    • Navigate to https://www.accuweather.com/. In the Search field, enter "zip code 95054" and search. In the search results, open the first page. Find the current temperature in degrees Fahrenheit and tell me the temperature.
    • Navigate to en.wikipedia.org. On the main page of wikipedia.org, in the Search field, search for "Santa Clara, California". In the search results, open the first page listed, and read its contents. Summarize the contents of the page in 2 or 3 sentences.

    Prozedur

    1. Log in to your ServiceNow instance, and confirm that all windows open to the instance are active.
    2. Open your ServiceNow Web Automation browser extension to confirm that it displays Connected.
      The browser extension can be opened from the Extensions menu in Google Chrome, or select the extension's icon if you have pinned it to the menu.

    3. In the instance that is configured in the browser extension, open the Now Assist panel using its icon .
      Now Assist panel greets you and asks how it can help you.
    4. From the available options, select the name of the workflow that uses a Now Assist AI web agent.

      Under View AI Agent Processing Steps, the agent asks for specifics. The Reply to Now Assist text box is highlighted.

    5. In the Reply to Now Assist field, enter details about the task you want the web agent to execute for you.
    6. The web agent proposes a plan of execution and asks for your confirmation; enter proceed or approve if the plan looks correct.
      After you indicate approval, the web agent begins to execute its plan. It provides updates on its process in Now Assist panel.
    7. Wahlweise: If you aren't satisfied with the web agent's plan, try rephrasing your request.
      Hinweis:
      If a setup configuration error occurs, check the ServiceNow Web Automation browser extension. If the browser extension displays Disconnected, try refreshing all browser windows to your instance to ensure that they are active.
    8. Monitor the web agent's updates in Now Assist panel.
      You can see the following:
      • The web agent opens a separate, concurrent browser tab to the third-party website.The browser tab opened by the Now Assist AI web agent, with the message "Opened for you."
      • Under View AI Agent Processing Steps, the panel offers to display screenshots of its actions: Walkthrough of AI agents on the web. Under View AI Agent Processing Steps, at Walkthrough of AI agents on the web, the Show button is highlighted.
    9. Wahlweise: To view screenshots of the website as the web agent is processing, select Show on Walkthrough of AI agents on the web.
      The Now Assist panel expands, and opens a Web view pane on Canvas.

    10. Wahlweise: If the web agent notifies you that the website requires a login or terms agreement, switch to the Opened for you browser tab to enter the information directly.

      In chat in Now Assist panel, the web agent requests the user to complete the required action on the website and then confirm once finished.

      Return to the Now Assist panel in your instance when you have finished the login. In Reply to Now Assist, confirm that you are ready to continue.
    11. When the web agent returns satisfactory results in Now Assist panel chat, enter a closing such as thank you to signal to the web agent that the task is finished.The web agent summarizes its results: in this example, it has found the current temperature is 74 degrees F in Santa Clara California. The user enters "thank you" in closing.

    Ergebnisse

    The web agent closes the separate browser tab to the external website. Your chat is moved to the Completed section of Now Assist panel.
