Hi,
We have some computer devices(Windows Servers, Printers, Switches etc) that are updating with its NIC. But, we want only management IP to be on the CI instead of its NIC.
Can you please tell me how to update the CI with its management IP only and not with any other NICs.

Hi @Community Alums ,
On discoverting any devices which has IP, servicenow will discovery and create IP for all the found IP addressed. Lets day if we are discoverting a windows server and it has 5IPs servicenow will consider once of the IPs to be primary and the remaining 4 will be recorded in a realted list of the Windows server.
There is a possiblity to set the primary IP with a system property but we cannot decide which IP can be Production and which can be Management.
if you have a specific subnet which needs to be set a management item then you can do it via patten customization, We had similar requirement but ended up usin bios as primary IPs.
i hope this helps...

Hi Sohail,
Thanks for the quick response.
I have a list of CIs on which the management IP should be updated instead of its NIC. Tried discovering the devices but the IP Address field is not updating to management IP.
You have mentioned that there is a system property to set the primary IP. Can you please tell how to set the primary IP for the list of devices I have.

Hi @Community Alums ,
the system propery will not set primary IP for your limited list of IPs rather it will set the IPs during discovering Devices.
1. The sys_property is > on the mid server
2. Go to mid server > on realted list > configuration parameters
3. Add new property with name as mid.win.baseboard.or.bios.insertion and set the value to true.
4. select the mid server used for discovery too.

Use property to exclude classes from doing it: glide.discovery.exclude_ip_sync_classes
