Summary of Use Now Assist to create spokes and build actions
The Now Assist Spoke Generator enables ServiceNow customers to create custom spokes and build reusable actions by simply providing snippets from third-party API documentation. This approach is particularly useful when the target third-party application lacks an OpenAPI Specification or Postman collection. The feature leverages generative AI to automate integration creation, streamlining the building of spokes without requiring extensive manual configuration.

Key Features
- Generative AI-powered Spoke Generation: Automatically generate spokes and actions by inputting API documentation snippets.
- Support for Non-Standard APIs: Useful for third-party applications without formal API specs like OpenAPI or Postman collections.
- Integration Hub Subscription Required: Access to this feature requires a valid Integration Hub subscription.
- Compatibility: Supported on ServiceNow Zurich release and later, with Spoke Generator version 4.1.0, Workflow Studio version 28.0, Spoke Generation skill v1.0.4, and Now Assist for Spoke Generation app version 1.6.0.
- Activation Process: Install the Now Assist for Creator (snnowcreator) application from the ServiceNow Store, then activate the Spoke Generation skill via the Now Assist Admin console.
- Third-Party LLM Provider Configuration: Ability to configure a default third-party Large Language Model (LLM) provider to facilitate spoke creation.
Important Considerations
- This feature may be unavailable in certain restricted environments such as FedRAMP, NSC DOD IL5, Australia IRAP-Protected data centers, self-hosted instances, or specific regional restrictions. Customers should verify availability for their environment.
- Because the feature uses AI and machine learning, outputs may not always be fully accurate or complete. Customers are responsible for validating, testing, and applying human oversight to AI-generated spokes and actions before deployment, especially in high-impact areas such as healthcare, finance, legal, security, or infrastructure.
- Data processed by this application may be transferred to centralized ServiceNow environments or third-party cloud providers, following ServiceNow’s internal policies and compliance standards.
- ServiceNow collects usage data and script information to improve AI capabilities. Customers may opt out of this data collection as described in the Now Assist documentation.
Practical Steps for ServiceNow Customers
- Install Now Assist for Creator: Begin by installing this application via the ServiceNow Store to access the spoke generation capabilities.
- Activate Spoke Generation Skill: Enable the skill in the Now Assist Admin console to utilize generative AI for spoke creation.
- Configure LLM Provider: Set up a default third-party LLM provider to support the spoke generation process.
- Create Spokes and Actions: Provide API documentation snippets to automate integration creation and generate reusable actions for workflows.
Use Now Assist in Spoke Generator to create spokes and actions by providing the required third-party API documentation snippet as an input.
Capabilities
You can build custom spokes for the required third-party application by copying and pasting the required snippets from the API documentation. AI limitations
This application uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, which are rapidly evolving fields of study that generate predictions based on patterns in data. As a result, this application may not always produce accurate, complete, or appropriate information. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that this application has been fully trained or tested for your use case. To mitigate these issues, it is your responsibility to test and evaluate your use of this application for accuracy, harm, and appropriateness for your use case, employ human oversight of output, and refrain from relying solely on AI-generated outputs for decision-making purposes. This is especially important if you choose to deploy this application in areas with consequential impacts such as healthcare, finance, legal, employment, security, or infrastructure. You agree to abide by ServiceNow’s AI Acceptable Use Policy, which may be updated by ServiceNow.
Data processing
This application requires data to be transferred from ServiceNow customers' individual instances to a centralized ServiceNow environment, which may be located in a different data center region from the one where your instance is, and potentially to a third-party cloud provider, such as Microsoft Azure. This data is handled per ServiceNow's internal policies and procedures, including our policies available through our CORE Compliance Portal.
Data collection
ServiceNow collects and uses the inputs, outputs, and edits to outputs of this application to develop and improve ServiceNow technologies including ServiceNow models and AI products. In addition, this application will collect information about scripts (and associated script records) in which Now Assist for code generation is called. Customers can opt out of future data collection at any time, as described in the Now Assist Opt-Out page.
