Activation and Setup
To use flow summarization, install the Now Assist for Creator (snnowcreator) application from the ServiceNow Store. Configuration of supported large language models (LLMs) such as Now LLM Service, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Anthropic Claude on AWS is managed via AI Control Tower and the Now Assist Admin console. This setup allows administrators to control which AI options are available and to customize skill-level preferences.
Key Features
- Flow and Subflow Summaries: Generate and view summaries directly from the More Actions menu on flow or subflow records.
- On-Demand Summarization: Flows or subflows without prior summaries show a Summarize button to create new summaries.
- Summary History: Previously generated summaries display their creation date and can be reviewed or regenerated as needed.
- Multi-Provider AI Support: Choose from multiple AI providers for generating summaries, giving flexibility and adaptability to organizational preferences.
Benefits for ServiceNow Customers
- Improved Collaboration: Clear descriptions of flow functionality enhance communication among teams.
- Reduced Manual Effort: Automated summary generation saves time and effort on documenting flow details.
Considerations and AI Limitations
This feature relies on AI and machine learning technologies, which may not always produce fully accurate or complete information. Customers should exercise human oversight, thoroughly test AI-generated summaries for accuracy and appropriateness, and avoid relying solely on AI outputs for critical decisions, especially in sensitive domains like healthcare, finance, legal, and security.
Users must comply with ServiceNow’s AI Acceptable Use Policy, which governs the ethical and responsible use of AI capabilities.
