Updating applications

  • Update your installed applications when new versions are available to get the latest features. You can update most applications to more recent versions directly from the Application Manager, without returning to the ServiceNow Store.

    Overview of using the Application Manager to update

    You can view applications and plugins that can be updated by navigating to the Application Manager and selecting the Updates tab. From there, you can update most applications and plugins without returning to the ServiceNow Store.

    There are some exceptions that might require you to procure the new application version or a dependency from the ServiceNow Store:
    • A new dependency has been added to support new features of the application or product that requires it. The dependency must be procured for the first time.
    • The dependency's provider requires that each new version of the dependency is requested and approved. The dependency is eligible for update after procuring the updated version from the ServiceNow Store.
    • A new version of a previously installed dependency has updated terms and conditions that must be signed. The dependency is eligible for update after procuring the updated version of the dependency from the ServiceNow Store.
    • The provider of an application or product requires that each new version is procured from the ServiceNow Store. The application or product dependencies are available for update after procuring an updated version of the application or product from the ServiceNow Store.

    Notifications about available updates

    By default, emailed notifications are sent when updates are available for ServiceNow Store applications and products. Default notifications are sent to the primary account administrator and to the individual who procured the application or product.
