Summary of Managing custom skills in Assistant Designer Asset library
This content explains how ServiceNow customers can view and manage custom skills within the Assistant Designer Asset library. The Asset library provides a list view of custom skills created for Virtual Agent, but it is important to note that creation, testing, and deletion of these skills must be done in the AI Skill Kit, not directly within the Asset library.
Viewing custom skills in the Asset library requires the virtualagentadmin role and depends on having ServiceNow Otto installed in Virtual Agent to access the updated user interface.
Key Features
- View Custom Skills: Customers can see details such as the skill name, type, status (e.g., Published), active state, last modified time, and descriptions in a list format.
- Open in AI Skill Kit: Selecting a skill in the Asset library opens it in AI Skill Kit for further management.
- Visibility Controls: Using the row actions icon, customers can toggle the skill’s Promoted (suggested in conversations), Discoverable (invoked by user utterances), Visible (appears under "Show me everything"), and Active (available in conversations) statuses.
- Delete Option Disabled: Skills cannot be deleted from the Asset library; deletion is only possible in AI Skill Kit.
- Deployment Settings: For a custom skill to appear in the Asset library, it must be enabled in the AI Skill Kit deployment settings by selecting Platform skills in the feature list and enabling the ServiceNow Otto panel card.
Practical Application for ServiceNow Customers
ServiceNow customers using Virtual Agent and Assistant Designer can leverage the Asset library to efficiently monitor and manage the visibility and availability of their custom skills without navigating away from the assistant interface. However, full lifecycle management of these skills—such as creation, testing, and deletion—requires use of the AI Skill Kit.
Ensuring correct deployment settings in AI Skill Kit is essential for skills to be accessible and manageable within the Asset library. This integration facilitates streamlined control over conversational assets, improving Virtual Agent effectiveness and user experience.
