    Summary of Device Management Interface

The Device Management Interface (DMI) is a web-based tool designed to configure and register Sensors with the Discovery Console for OT. Registering a Sensor through the DMI enables it to communicate with the Console, allowing you to begin discovering assets in your environment. The DMI and the Discovery Console are separate HTTPS interfaces that must both be accessed for Sensor registration.

Upon first login to the DMI, use the default credentials username admin and password devpassword. After Sensor registration, you can use the Console to create essential components such as Site, Network Zone, Auto Query, and Quick Scan for asset discovery.

    DMI Pages and Their Functions

    • Device: Displays Sensor details including name, type, serial number, firmware, and model. You can edit the Sensor name here; note that if you change the name after registration, it must also be updated in the Console.
    • Network: Shows the Sensor’s connection diagram and allows editing of the Console connection, management interface, and bridge/span interface settings needed during registration.
    • Console: Used to register the Sensor to the Discovery Console. You can edit the Console endpoint and gateway settings, which redirects to the Network page for changes. After registration, the Sensor is listed on the Console's Sensors page.
    • Location: Contains fields for latitude, longitude, and physical location description. You can add or modify location data by selecting Edit.
    • Password: Allows updating the DMI password for security purposes via the Edit option.
    • Certificate: Enables uploading a certificate obtained from the Discovery Console, which is required for Sensor registration.
    • Help: Provides keyboard shortcut information for navigating the DMI efficiently.

    Practical Benefits for ServiceNow Customers

Using the DMI, you can efficiently configure and register Sensors essential for operational technology (OT) asset discovery within your environment. Proper registration ensures secure communication between Sensors and the Discovery Console, enabling accurate and comprehensive asset visibility. The interface’s structured pages provide straightforward access to all necessary configuration elements, simplifying Sensor management and integration with your ServiceNow OT discovery workflows.

The Device Management Interface (DMI) is a web-based interface that lets you configure and register a Sensor to the Discovery Console for OT.

    DMI overview

With the DMI, you can register a Sensor to allow the Sensor to communicate with the Discovery Console for OT. By registering the Sensor, you are ready to start using the Console.
    Note:
The Console and the DMI are separate web-based interfaces that you access with an HTTPS web address. You need to open both interfaces when registering the Sensor. During the first log into the DMI, the username admin and the password devpassword are provided.
Once the Console is deployed and you have registered the Sensor, you can create these necessary components on the Console to discover assets in your environment.
    • Site
    • Network Zone
    • Auto Query
    • Quick Scan

For more information about these Console features, see Discovery Console for OT.
