Find info about an app in ServiceNow Studio
Use the App details page in ServiceNow Studio to view metadata about an existing application and take action directly from the page.
Opening an existing application for the first time
When you open ServiceNow Studio for the first time, open your apps from the Navigator panel on the left side of the screen. Search for the app by name or select it from the list.
Selecting an app opens its full contents in the Navigator panel, with all file types organized by category, such as Automation. Select App details to open the app in a new tab.
For more information, see Find an app or app file using the Navigator panel.
Opening apps for continued work
After you open an app for the first time, it appears in the Recently opened apps section on the ServiceNow Studio home page. Recently opened files are also available from the home page.
To find apps and files you have worked on recently, select the Recent section in the Navigator panel and filter by time period.
App details features
- Navigator panel: View app files organized by category. Bookmark files or apps, open the full list of any file type, or filter the list to find specific files. For more information, see Bookmark apps and app files in ServiceNow Studio.
- Files section: View featured file types (Data, User Interface, Automation, and Security) or all file types. Filter or sort the list to find the files you want to work with. For more information, see Metadata app file categories in the ServiceNow Studio Navigator.
- Page header: View app metadata, invite collaborators, or create files directly using the + Create option. For more information, see App details page and Viewing app origination information in ServiceNow Studio.
- App actions: Select the more options icon
to link the app to source control, invite collaborators, access settings, or publish, refresh, or delete the app. If the app is linked to source control, available source control operations appear in a menu next to the Publish button. For more information, see Applications in ServiceNow Studio.
- File records: Select a file to open it, select Add to create files of that type, or bookmark files directly from the record. For more information, see Create an app file in ServiceNow Studio.
- Scope and update set: View the scope and update set associated with the current app at the bottom of the page. The scope switches automatically when you switch between tabs in ServiceNow Studio. Create an update set and associate app changes to it so your changes are ready to deploy. For more information, see Open apps and app files across scopes in ServiceNow Studio and Update sets in ServiceNow Studio.
