    Key Features

    • Experience Switcher: Enables seamless switching between development environments directly within Creator Studio, reducing tool fragmentation and simplifying workflows.
    • Development Environments:
      • Creator Studio: A no-code environment ideal for beginners or quick app creation through an intuitive, guided interface.
      • ServiceNow Studio: A platform developer environment offering a balanced interface for managing metadata and integrated builders with moderate complexity.
      • ServiceNow IDE: A pro-code environment based on VS Code, designed for advanced developers requiring detailed, code-centric app development.
    • App Sharing: Apps created or bookmarked in Creator Studio are accessible in ServiceNow Studio, but apps created in ServiceNow Studio are not available in Creator Studio.
    • Access Control: Availability of these environments via the experience switcher depends on user roles. Admins and delegated developers typically have access to all, while Creator Studio users often have restricted access to maintain a curated experience.
    • Opening Apps in ServiceNow Studio: Users with access can open apps directly in ServiceNow Studio through the “more actions” icon on the Creator Studio home page or navigation panel.

    Key Outcomes

By leveraging the experience switcher, ServiceNow customers can:

    • Efficiently develop applications across varying complexity levels without switching platforms or tools.
    • Maintain centralized development activities, minimizing confusion and enhancing productivity.
    • Ensure appropriate access based on roles, protecting the development environment while allowing flexibility for advanced users.
    • Progressively enhance apps by starting with simple no-code solutions and then extending functionality in more advanced environments.

If you want to develop apps in a more robust environment than Creator Studio, which was designed for no-code developers, you can select a different experience directly from within Creator Studio.

A development environment for every level

Use the experience switcher to select from any of the following development environments directly within Creator Studio, without navigating to the All menu.

    Important:
No matter what your role is (including admin and delegated developer roles), if you have one of the Creator Studio roles, you won't be able to access ServiceNow Studio or ServiceNow IDE.

The following describes default role access to the experience switcher:
    • Admins and delegated developers can use the experience switcher because they may need access to any product where they've been delegated to administer or develop an app.
