Access integrated development tools and builders in ServiceNow Studio
Access development tools and builders directly in ServiceNow Studio so you can build apps without switching between interfaces. Open any file type to launch the correct tool or builder automatically.
How do I access tools and builders in ServiceNow Studio?
ServiceNow tools and builders are integrated with ServiceNow Studio so all app development happens in one interface.
Most tools and builders — such as Table Builder, Workflow Studio, and flows in Workflow Studio — open in new tabs within ServiceNow Studio and are grouped by scope. Some builders, such as Mobile App Builder, open in new browser tabs. Each file type opens in either a specified builder or the classic UI16 form view. For more information about which tool each file type opens in, see ServiceNow Studio Navigator panel taxonomy.
To access tools and builders, select File Categories in the Navigator panel and select the file type you want to open. The file opens in a new tab or browser tab depending on the builder.
For more information about the tools and builders available for app development, see Integrated development tools for ServiceNow Studio. For more information about what a builder is, see Builders in ServiceNow Studio.
Tabs in ServiceNow Studio
Each app or file you open in ServiceNow Studio opens in its own tab, showing the file name, file type, and scope.
If your browser window is narrow, open tabs may overflow. Select the more actions icon and choose Show Opened Editors to see a list of all open files. Select any file to open it in the canvas.
How do I switch between tools and builders?
During app development, you can have multiple tools and builders open at the same time. For example, build a flow or playbook in Workflow Studio, then use UI Builder to build a custom web experience for your users.
To switch between tools, open the file you want to edit. ServiceNow Studio opens the file in the correct tool or builder automatically.
