Find an app or app file using Search

  • Use Search in ServiceNow Studio to find and open any app or app file. You can also activate code search to find snippets of code within specific metadata types on your instance.

    Before you begin

    Role required: admin or delegated_developer

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to All > App Engine > ServiceNow Studio.
    2. Select the Search bar using one of the following options.
      • If you are on the ServiceNow Studio home page, select the Search icon Search icon in the Navigator panel, or select the main Search bar.

      • If you are on any other page, such as Tools or Deployment, select the Search icon Search icon in the left side navigation.
      Note:
      To access Search from any page using a keyboard shortcut, press ⌘ + / or ctrl + /.
    3. Optional: To search within code, select the switch next to Activate code search.
      Note:
      Code search finds snippets of code within specific application file types. For more information, see Find an app or app file using code search.
    4. Enter your app or app file name in the Search bar.
      To navigate directly to a table, follow the instructions in Navigate directly to a table in ServiceNow Studio.
    5. Select your app or file from the results list.
    6. Optional: Filter the results by selecting Files, Tables, Applications, or Tools in the search bar.
      Refine the search results in the search bar.
    7. Optional: To expand and filter results further, press Enter to open the Search results tab, then select a filter to narrow the list.
