AWS Global Accelerator pattern-based discovery
Summarize
Summary of AWS Global Accelerator pattern-based discovery
The AWS Global Accelerator pattern-based discovery in ServiceNow enables automated detection and mapping of AWS Global Accelerator resources within your cloud environment. This capability is part of the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application, which populates critical data into both CMDB and non-CMDB tables, helping you maintain an accurate and up-to-date configuration management database for your AWS infrastructure.

Key Features
- Prerequisites and Setup: Ensure AWS discovery prerequisites are met and remove any duplicate entries by verifying the Resource Inclusion List to avoid redundant discovery processes.
- Pattern Activation: The AWS Global Accelerator discovery pattern is disabled by default. Starting from Visibility Content version 6.28.0, activating or deactivating patterns is managed without treating it as customization, allowing patterns to receive updates and reset to the latest versions after upgrades while maintaining their last active state.
- Data Population: The discovery pattern populates data into:
- Non-CMDB tables: Includes detailed AWS-specific tables accessible via ServiceNow navigation, providing extended inventory details.
- CMDB tables: Populates key resource information including resource type, status, and relationships, offering a comprehensive view of AWS Global Accelerator resources.
- Configuration Item Relationships: The pattern establishes relationships between AWS Global Accelerator resources, cloud service accounts, and cloud resource records to reflect accurate hosting and referencing connections within the CMDB.
- AWS Tag Discovery: Tags associated with AWS Global Accelerator resources are collected and stored in the Key Value table, enabling enhanced resource categorization and management.
What You Can Expect
By implementing this discovery pattern, ServiceNow customers can expect streamlined and automated identification of AWS Global Accelerator resources, with accurate status and configuration details captured in the CMDB. This facilitates improved asset tracking, operational insight, and cloud resource management. Additionally, the pattern’s ability to manage tags and relationships supports more effective governance and reporting of AWS environments.
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns finds AWS services on your cloud environment. Discovering some of these resources may require updating to the latest version of the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application from the ServiceNow Store.
Pattern-based discovery and mapping requirements
- Verify the AWS discovery prerequisites
- For more information, see the prerequisites section in Amazon AWS Cloud components discovery using patterns.
- Remove resources from the Resource Inclusion List table
- Verify that the relevant resource isn't listed in the Resource Inclusion List [sa_cloud_inventory_resource_whitelist] table to avoid duplicate discovery. For more information on removing resources from the Resource Inclusion List, see Amazon Web Services (AWS) Resource Inventory.
- Enable the relevant pattern
- The pattern for this service is disabled by default. Starting with Visibility Content version 6.28.0, activating or deactivating a pattern won't be considered a customization, and it will continue to receive updates. Patterns that were previously activated or deactivated will reset to the latest predefined version after upgrading while retaining the last active field value. For more information on enabling patterns, see Activate a disabled pattern.
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application populates data in both CMDB and non-CMDB tables.
Data stored in non-CMDB tables
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application populates data in the non-CMDB table when running the Amazon AWS - Global Accelerator - Extended Inventory (LP) pattern.
You can review the non-CMDB AWS tables by navigating to . You can also search the navigation filter for the specific pattern name.
