Accessing the Dashboard
Users can access the dashboard through two main navigation paths:
- Navigate to All > Configuration and select CSDM Data Foundations Dashboard.
- In CMDB Workspace, go to Workspaces > CMDB Workspace, click Management, and select CSDM Data Foundations Dashboard from the Optimize section.
Additionally, users can toggle between the CSDM and CMDB dashboards using the change dashboard icon.
Dashboard Tabs
The dashboard features multiple tabs corresponding to different stages of CSDM implementation:
- Foundation: Displays base data necessary for utilizing ServiceNow products and CMDB.
- Crawl: Focuses on base-system CMDB tables linked to IT Service Management (ITSM).
- Walk: Identifies and populates network infrastructure CIs and applications supported by technical teams.
- Run: Sets up relationships between technology and business entities.
- Fly: Indicates completion of the CSDM framework implementation process.
Each report within these tabs highlights metrics pertinent to the organization's CSDM maturity stage, aiding in informed decision-making.
Managing Performance of Data Collection
For optimizing dashboard performance, users can manage data collection for metrics that are unnecessary or impacting performance. This ensures efficient monitoring of vital indicators.
Auto-Generating Product Models
Utilize the CSDM Product Model Assignment job to automatically create product model records for logical CIs lacking association. This functionality is beneficial for linking CIs associated with a single digital product.

Access the dashboard
Use either of the following methods to open the dashboard:
Navigate to , and then select CSDM Data Foundations Dashboard.
- In CMDB Workspace, navigate to .
- Select Management in the CMDB Workspace menu bar.
- Select CSDM Data Foundations Dashboard in the Optimize section of the Management tools.
Select the change dashboard icon () to toggle between the CSDM and CMDB dashboards.
Example
The reports on each tab display the data metrics that are appropriate for the maturity of your organization's CSDM implementation stage (foundation, crawl, walk, run, and fly). A label on each report identifies the metric being displayed.
In this example, a report on the Run tab indicates that several business service offerings don't have the required relationships to application services. With this knowledge, Service owners can add the relationships to ensure that customer service agents get complete information on the upstream impacts of applications that are down.
Tabs on the dashboard
- The Foundation domain involves tables that contain base data that is referenced from or to objects in the other CSDM domains. Foundation data is required before you can use ServiceNow products or add data to the CMDB. See 'Foundation' stage reports on the CSDM Data Foundations dashboard.
- In the Crawl stage, you work on base-system CMDB tables that are associated with IT Service Management (ITSM). See 'Crawl' stage reports on the CSDM Data Foundations dashboard.
- In the Walk stage, you identify and populate the network infrastructure CIs and applications that your organization's technical teams support. See 'Walk' stage reports on the CSDM Data Foundations dashboard.
