Summary of Performance Analytics dashboards for risk events and risk hierarchy

Performance Analytics (PA) dashboards in ServiceNow provide comprehensive insights into risk events and risk hierarchy data. Users with thesnrisk.managerrole can access data for the past six months by default, and extended historical data (up to one year) can be obtained by running the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Entity and risk statement historical data collection job. For more flexible time period analysis, the Performance Analytics Premium plugin is required.

Dashboards are available in the Next Experience UI Framework starting from version 18.1.0 of the Risk Management and Advanced Risk applications. These dashboards help risk managers and entity owners monitor key risk metrics, loss trends, and risk exposure efficiently.

    Key Features

    • Risk Events Dashboards:
      • Risk Event Overview: Displays trends such as gross loss, net loss, active and near-miss events, event types and states, and top entities by loss metrics.
      • Risk Event Overview by Entity: Accessible to entity owners (role sn.riskuser), showing monthly aggregated data on gross/net loss, event counts, and averages per event, with editable capabilities for administrators (sn.riskadmin).
      • Risk Event Overview by Risk Class: Enables users with the snrisk.manager role to view Level 1 risk event trends including losses, event counts, and near misses, plus top risk events by net loss and annual loss expectancy comparisons.
    • Exposure Dashboards:
      • Exposure by Risk Statements: For risk managers, showing risk distribution by tolerance status, calculated scores, annual loss expectancy, and risk rating heatmaps by tolerance status. Note that this dashboard is deprecated starting with version 18.1.0 but remains available in legacy releases.
      • Exposure by Entity: Designed for entity owners to assess entity health based on tolerance status categories (unacceptable, needs attention, acceptable), annual loss expectancy trends, and risk rating heatmaps. This dashboard is also deprecated starting in version 18.1.0 but is still accessible in legacy versions.

    Important Considerations

    • Running the historical data collection job more than once can cause inconsistent data and potential data loss; it should only be run once per instance.
    • Dashboards are transitioning to the Next Experience UI Framework from version 18.1.0, improving usability and interface consistency.
    • Some exposure dashboards have been deprecated but remain available for customers on earlier versions.

    Benefits for ServiceNow Customers

These dashboards enable risk managers and entity owners to:

    • Monitor and analyze risk event trends and losses over time.
    • Identify entities or risk classes with the highest losses or risk exposures.
    • Assess risk tolerance and entity health through visual heatmaps and status indicators.
    • Make informed decisions based on detailed historical and current risk analytics.

Use the Performance Analytics (PA) dashboards to view the comprehensive data for risk events and risk hierarchy. Use the Analytics Hub to view data for any time period.

By default, users with the sn_risk.manager role can view data for six months. To view the data for different time periods, purchase and activate the Performance Analytics Premium plugin. Users with the sn_risk.manager role can collate historical data for one year by running the ServiceNow® Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Entity and risk statement historical data collection job.
    Note:
Run the historical data collection job only once. Running this job more than once leads to inconsistent data collection and might result in a loss of previous data.
