Security Center release notes
The ServiceNow® Security Center application is composed of multiple distinct tools designed to help you improve your security posture and strengthen your compliance levels seamlessly. Security Center was enhanced and updated in the Washington DC release.
Security Center highlights for the Washington DC release
- Use Security Best Practices to identify and implement security best practices available in the feature.
- Use the new Critical Updates tool to implement system suggested updates.
- Use the enhanced Security Hardening tool, which implements the new Instance Security Hardening Setting Baseline version 2.0 (Security Center 1.3) and version 4.0 (Security Center 1.5).

New in the Washington DC release
- Security Best Practices (new in v1.5)
- Manage your security best practices from the security best practices home page. You can also view the history of data related to security best practices and apply filters to the Security Best Practices table.
- Customer Actions
- View timelines for when your Critical Updates are due so that you can plan and prioritize them. Get clear step-by-step guidance on how to implement Critical Updates within your instance. View logs related to your updates, including comments, instructions, and work notes for each step or update.
Changed in this release
- Hardening settings baseline
- Baseline v2.0 is new in the Washington DC (v1.3). Baseline v4.0 is new in the May Store release (v1.5). New baselines include new, updated, and removed hardening settings.
Activation information
Security Center is a store release and must be installed from the ServiceNow store.
