Software Asset Management dashboard

Summary of Software Asset Management dashboard
The Software Asset Management (SAM) dashboard in the Zurich release enables ServiceNow customers to monitor true-up costs, optimization results, and compliance trends through interactive charts and reports. It provides a centralized view of software compliance and optimization metrics, updated daily or upon new reconciliation results.

Access to this dashboard depends on your plugin activation status: it is unavailable to new Zurich users with the Software Asset Management Professional plugin activated after upgrade or activation, but remains accessible to those who had the plugin before Zurich and have not activated the SAM Workspace plugin. If the SAM Workspace application is installed post-Zurich upgrade, access is via the Dashboards menu instead of the Software Asset navigation.
Within the dashboard, users can filter data by publisher, product, department, and country to refine insights, interact with reports for detailed records, and export charts as PNG or JPG images.
Key Features
- Overview Tab: Displays compliance-related metrics sourced from the Product Result table, including total true-up cost, count of publishers and products out of compliance, potential savings from reclaiming removal candidates, and lists of top products by true-up cost and potential savings.
- Optimization Tab: Provides insights into reclamation activities from the Reclamation Candidate table, showing reclamations requiring attention, potential and actual savings year-to-date, status breakdowns of active reclamations, and monthly savings trends. It uses color codes to represent reclamation states for clarity.
- Compliance Analysis: Uses Performance Analytics to present time-series data on compliance trends such as true-up costs and over-licensed amounts. It includes counts of publishers and products that are out of compliance or over-licensed, with detailed breakdowns and records accessible per widget selection.

View true-up costs, optimization results, and compliance trend charts on the Software Asset Management dashboard.
- If you activated the Software Asset Management Professional (com.snc.samp) plugin prior to Zurich but didn't activate the Workspace plugin (com.sn_sam_workspace), you have access to this dashboard.
- If you activated the Software Asset Workspace (sn_sam_workspace) store application after upgrading to Zurich, you won’t be able to access this dashboard from the Software Asset navigation menu in your instance. You can however access this dashboard from the Dashboards navigation menu.
The Software Asset Management dashboard tab is accessed by navigating to and selecting Software Asset Management from the dashboard list. Select an element within a report to see more information, or add and move widgets as needed.
Results are updated daily, or whenever a new reconciliation result is available, and can be refreshed by selecting the Refresh icon for each result. You can also save charts in PNG or JPG formats.
The graphs show important statistics about the software being tracked. In the Overview and Optimization tabs, you can filter by publisher, product, department, and country to narrow the results.
