Summary of Spend analytics
The Spend analytics page in ServiceNow provides detailed visibility into your cloud expenditures, including cloud resources, Kubernetes, and shared resources, over customizable time ranges and cost types. This tool helps you analyze and manage cloud spend effectively by grouping, filtering, and sorting cost data based on various attributes.

Note: Users with the insightsowner role only see accounts assigned to them. Nested tag values are not supported for spend analysis.
Cloud spend analytics
Use the Cloud spend analytics tab to:
- Review cloud resource spending over selectable time ranges (current month, or 3, 6, 9, 12 months).
- Group spend data by provider, purchase option, region, service account, service category, cloud service, resource group, or tag category.
- Apply filters such as provider, master/service account, region, purchase option, resource group, and tag category to refine results.
This functionality helps you understand where and how cloud budgets are allocated across your organization.
Kubernetes spend analytics
Use the Kubernetes spend analytics tab to:
- Analyze Kubernetes-related cloud costs over adjustable time ranges.
- Group costs by Kubernetes cluster, namespace, or tag category.
- Select cost types: Actual cost (direct cloud services billing) or Amortized cost (effective cost of upfront and monthly reservation fees spread over billing periods).
- Filter results by provider, service accounts, region, Kubernetes clusters/namespaces, purchase option, resource group, and tag categories.
- View detailed cost breakdowns per Kubernetes cluster and namespace.
Shared cost analytics
Use the Shared cost analytics tab to:
- Gain insights into spending on shared cloud resources over selected time periods.
- Group shared costs by provider, purchase option, region, service account, service category, cloud service, resource group, or tag category.
- Choose between actual cost and amortized cost for cost type analysis.
- Filter data by provider, service accounts, region, purchase option, resource group, and tag category.
- Access detailed views of both direct and shared costs for your cloud resources.
Practical considerations
Tag categories and values are integral to grouping and filtering spend data. For details on default tag categories and managing tags, reference ServiceNow’s Tags and tag categories documentation.
Understanding actual versus amortized cost types is essential for accurate cost allocation and budgeting, especially when reserved cloud services are involved.
