Connect Security Symposium: A meeting of the minds
Two topics are top of mind for every organization: security and AI. Both took places of prominence at ServiceNow’s inaugural Connect Security Symposium, a gathering of partners and customers to discuss the state of security, exchange ideas and best practices, and forge connections.
Prioritizing AI
The Enterprise AI Maturity Index by ServiceNow and Oxford Economics found that AI Pacesetters, organizations furthest along in AI adoption, rank cybersecurity as the top risk related to AI. For that reason, the security and cybersecurity functions are very involved in AI strategy at 79% of Pacesetter organizations. Yet only 45% of security teams have integrated generative AI into their security tool sets, according to the ISC2.
A number of breakout sessions at the event explored how AI can help security personas and how organizations are addressing cyber risks that AI poses. If adversaries are able to move faster with AI, defenders will need to move just as fast to keep up with and stay ahead of threats.
ServiceNow recently unveiled Now Assist for Security Operations as part of the Now Platform Xanadu release to help organizations do just that. It aids security analysts with incident summarization, shift handovers, recommended actions, and post-incident reporting. The net of these benefits is faster incident response and mitigated cyber risk for users.
Shaping security
The goal of the symposium was to help ServiceNow customers maximize the value they get from our Security Operations (SecOps) product. Customers learned about new features and how to better use the capabilities they have access to—such as how to evolve the Configuration Management Database to get better information into it and how to use it in SecOps to do better triage.
Our product engineering team attended, giving partners and customers a unique opportunity to share their input and help shape future SecOps releases. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from this approach. Customers felt empowered to help steer the product roadmap.
“We had ample opportunities with product teams to talk about some of the individual features or options within SecOps,” one attendee said. “Meeting with the ServiceNow product team, sales team, marketing teams, and a few clients was a highlight,” said another.
Sharing insights
Attendees also benefited from hearing and seeing how other organizations use the SecOps product.
In addition, sessions focused on the importance of integrating security with other areas of the business, such as risk, compliance, operational technology, HR, customer service, and legal. It’s rare for security vendors to have this much purview across the business. ServiceNow is unique in that we provide solutions and context in all these areas. This gives us a superpower to weave security across the fabric of an enterprise.
