According to the World Health Organization, approximately one in six people globally experiences infertility at some point in their lifetime. It’s a reality that Pegah K., senior social media and content specialist for ServiceNow Asia Pacific, is all too familiar with.

Pegah met her husband 13 years ago and excitedly checked the milestone boxes that many couples do: They married, got a dog, bought a house, settled down, and decided to start a family. “We were in our 40s, and we knew time was of the essence,” Pegah says. “So we quickly found ourselves on the path of in vitro fertilization [IVF].”

The start of a long journey

The path hasn’t been easy. Pegah did extensive research to find the right doctor, understand the statistics, and help manage her expectations. “When you hit your 30s, your eggs peak in quality,” she says. “What that means is at the age of 40, specifically for me, only 25% of them are chromosomally OK for fertilization. And that's still not guaranteed.”

Although Pegah’s fertility specialist shared that she had only a 3% to 5% likelihood of becoming pregnant through IVF, she and her husband decided to take their chances. Watch this video to follow Pegah’s emotional journey to motherhood.
