ServiceNow wins ITAM technology award for driving autonomy

I’m excited to announce that ITAM Forum has named ServiceNow the winner of its ITAM Excellence Award in Technology and Service Innovation for our groundbreaking AI agents for IT Asset Management (ITAM).

This recognition from an impartial, end-user-led industry body underscores the transformative role of AI in ITAM technology and validates ServiceNow’s leadership in driving autonomy and efficiency across ITAM processes.

Why this ITAM award matters

The ITAM Forum award is a signal that AI is no longer optional in ITAM. “By 2028, 80% of organizations leveraging SAM [software asset management] tools’ AI capabilities will increase​ productivity of their SAM teams by 60%, doubling cost savings and creating greater​ efficiencies over 2024,” according to Gartner®.1

Organizations are under pressure to reduce costs, improve compliance, and accelerate service delivery. As digital services sprawl across every function, ITAM has become mission-critical and is no longer an IT-only concern.

Procurement connections and data sharing help with contract negotiations and faster adoption of purchases. Linking with security can extend the accuracy and reach of vulnerability assessments. And links to HR help streamline onboarding.

ServiceNow AI Agents help organizations accomplish these goals, assisting with software reclamations, guiding hardware repairs, and automating the handling of repetitive hardware and software requests. These agents can connect across workflows so that asset AI agents can work alongside Configuration Management Database (CMDB) AI agents, procurement AI agents, HR AI agents, and so on.

All these workflows help support business activities by taming complexity and increasing efficiency. This frees IT asset managers to focus on strategic initiatives that simplify audits, save money, and deliver more direct business value.

Human-AI collaboration

Unlike traditional ITAM solutions, ServiceNow integrates across all lines of business with AI embedded deeply into workflows. ServiceNow ITAM manages the entire asset lifecycle and uniquely provides a consistent approach to hardware and software asset management, as well as cloud cost management (financial operations) and non-IT assets across the enterprise.

AI agents can take action on important tasks that otherwise consume much of an asset manager’s day, such as handling requests for hardware and software. For example, hardware request AI agents can review a request, determine whether the requested items are in stock, and issue transfer requests if the stock needs to come from another location.

Additionally, AI agents can identify if an item is out of stock and initiate a purchase order for a replacement. Most of this can be automated, with the human asset manager kept in the loop to verify the actions before they’re executed.
