AI is reshaping the threat landscape, according to new research from ServiceNow

ServiceNow's 2026 Risk & Security Outlook surveyed 1,000 senior executives and found that AI is the dominant force accelerating enterprise risk — making existing threats faster, broader, and more interconnected.

The core problem: 47% of organizations have low-to-moderate confidence in their risk posture, and AI adoption is outpacing governance. Cyber threats like phishing, insider attacks, and data theft are all expected to worsen as adversaries leverage AI at scale. Meanwhile, most companies aren't investing enough in foundational defenses like identity governance and AI-driven threat detection.

The bottom line: AI is both the biggest risk amplifier and the best defense tool available. Organizations that pair AI adoption with strong governance will absorb disruption — those that don't will amplify it.
