Planet Earth in space

Earlier this month, NASA’s Artemis II crew shared stark images of Earth that left millions of people in awe. The view from space of our fragile home demands renewed accountability. The choices we make, and how we make them, take on a greater meaning.

Business leaders increasingly understand this truth. For many years, the view has been that economic growth and environmental responsibility must compete, but they don’t have to.

When responsibility is built into how a company operates, growth can follow.

The work behind the words

At ServiceNow, we believe leadership requires both reflection and action—not to set ourselves apart, but to earn trust. That’s why we’ve focused on understanding and reducing our own environmental footprint as part of our sustainability efforts.

Since 2019, we’ve reduced operational emissions by approximately 80%, exceeding our own science-based target of 70%. Our travel and commute emissions intensity is down roughly 60%, surpassing a 40% target. And our total carbon footprint relative to revenue has decreased nearly 69%.

These outcomes didn’t come from a single initiative. They came from sustained operational discipline, applied year after year, so that when we engage with customers and partners, we do so grounded in real-world experience, not aspiration.

When responsibility is built into how a company operates, growth can follow.

Impact at scale

Of course, no company can move the needle alone. What matters is how we help strengthen the system we’re part of.

In 2025, we brought together our climate and community investments under a unified strategic framework spanning electrification, nature-based solutions, and climate entrepreneurship.

We continue to offer our customers a carbon-neutral cloud, offset through 16 environmental projects across 10 countries, from forest conservation in Africa to clean energy programs in Asia and South America.

Through our partnership with GivePower, more than 850,000 people in Kenya now have access to clean water and renewable power. Eighty-six community decarbonization projects funded through ChangeX reached more than 70,000 people across 11 countries. Each effort reflects the belief that lasting change must be done in partnership with local communities and leaders.

Technology plays a supporting role here, as an enabler. Organizations such as Verra, Conservation International, and Ol Pejeta Conservancy are using ServiceNow technology to digitize their operations that advance climate actions and conservations.

The Elba Hope Foundation is expanding clean energy to Sherbro Island. And through Acumen, ServiceNow is investing in climate tech entrepreneurs across Africa who are building locally rooted solutions for global challenges.

Leading by doing, so others can too

When a customer evaluates the capabilities of our Operational Sustainability Management solution, they're looking at a company that’s already been down the path they're starting to walk.

We've achieved 100% renewable electricity across every office and data center, mitigating over 80,000 tCO2e in 2025. A recent lifecycle assessment found that the ServiceNow 2024 platform produced 64% fewer greenhouse gas emissions per data point (a unit measuring customer usage and storage on the ServiceNow AI Platform) than it did in 2020. That efficiency compounds for every customer running on our platform.

We don’t have all the answers, and we’re not trying to set a single path forward. What we can do is share what we’ve learned and help others apply it to their journeys.

Of course, there’s more to do, and we’ll do it alongside others. Helping people thrive and protecting the planet have always been connected. That work is the responsibility of all of us.
