Juan Antonio

Just seven months into his career at ServiceNow, Juan Antonio has yet to meet anyone who hates Mondays and he’s about to see a project he worked on leave the lab. As part of the Kickstarter team, innovation and execution feels like pure creation. Driven by self-discipline and his passion to create software, Juan Antonio applies his research and development and robotics background to what feels like “a graduation” when he watches his work scale to large industries in ServiceNow’s global customer base.

Juan Antonio first heard of ServiceNow as part of the Forbes Best Place to Work list and started messing around on the ServiceNow public developer portal. He’s paying it forward and sharing his passion with his brother who is in high school. His advice, “make sure you’re happy doing what you’re doing, who you’re doing it with, the environment from which you’re doing it and be proud of what you’re putting out in the world.”

Juan Antonio:

So a reference reached out to me via LinkedIn, he had looked at my profile and saw that I knew various different places in software and robotics and applications and he reached out to me and he asked me if I knew about ServiceNow and I was like, yeah, I’ve heard of ServiceNow!

As far as my team respectively, we take ideas from conception to a prototype. I was lucky enough to come in when the prototype was about to be finished. And now, seven months in, I get to see that come to life. It was a joke between me and the guys I was working with at my previous employer where I could constantly tell them, I was like “hey man there doesn’t exist a solution that fits everything.”

In comes ServiceNow. Oh yeah, the perfect solution does exist. You can build anything on this thing. There really isn’t anything you can’t create on this platform.

Coming from a background where I built applications from the ground up, I’ve built those pipelines and all that. There’s none of that here. You take all that out. So, you’re able to focus on the one thing you want to do which is actually right, your logic and make that magic happen to create your application. I don’t see that happening anywhere else.

Pure creation is the way I like to put it.

Kobe Bryant is my favorite athlete. He has this line that goes, “We can all be masters of our craft.” This is an idea space. It’s a place where we’re all operating on the same wavelength. We’re all interested in what we’re working on, right? And you hear it in people’s voices. You see it in people’s work.

Seven months in, I have yet to find somebody who is that personality of “It’s Monday morning - I need my 3rd cup of coffee.” There’s none of that here. Everybody wants to be here. Everybody wants to work on these problems. So, half of your day you’re spending at this place. Make sure you’re happy doing what you’re doing, who you’re doing it with, how you’re doing it in the space you’re doing it in. Make sure you’re being taken care of. And if you’re like me, you also care about how that’s going out into the world.

This is a message I do believe in.  It sounds amazing when I’m telling somebody. It’s like, “hey man, like you’re reading off clichés.” No man, this is how I feel. This is how I feel.
