Help! 30 days until go-live!

It's easy to get wrapped up in the technical implementation and forget about communications. Then before you know it, the day arrives when you realize, "We only have 30 days left until go‑live!" Here are the top documents you'll need to get your communications built over a weekend so you can execute on Monday.

First, read the Go‑live communication and training guide. It gives you an overview of the steps and activities that will ensure an effective go‑live. If you already have change champions, you can (and should) use them to amplify your communications and increase your reach.

Simplified communication plan

You don't have time for the full‑fledged, "do everything" model. This simplified, high‑level plan gives you a direction for the next few weeks.   

After your go‑live, don't forget to continue your communications. Check out the 30‑day plan in the communication plan template when you're ready. 

Training

Training is essential to ensure smooth adoption and get users comfortable with the changes to their day‑to‑day roles. Use these tools to build out your training materials:

Along with scheduled training (webinar or in person), also do a recording. Put all the training materials and links to videos in a Knowledge article and display it prominently, as a favorited item, for the fulfiller users to use after go‑live.

Go‑live and beyond

First, make sure you have a great go‑live party—you'll find some ideas here. We recommend you schedule this about two weeks after go‑live; by then you'll have the energy and support to make this a big event. Make sure to invite all the users in your company.

Your ServiceNow account team can help make this special by providing the cake, product demos, ServiceNow goodies, and more—make sure they are a part of it! 

But beyond the party, here are some tips:

  • Continue doing lunch and learns.
  • Have all training materials you were able to create available as KBs, and mark them as favorites so the users can find them easily.
  • Create additional training post go‑live if needed.
  • Use your change champions post go‑live to continue efforts and provide feedback.
  • Set up a walk‑up table during lunch hours.
  • Survey users about their experience. What did they feel you did well? What could have been improved? Better to know for next time! Get examples here.
