AI job postings are on the rise. More than 72% of Asia Pacific (APAC) enterprises confirmed data and AI skills are extremely important for new hires to fill the skills gap, according to IDC.1 ServiceNow research supports this: 53% of surveyed enterprises plan to hire more AI configurators in the next year.

According to IDC, 60% to 80% of APAC (excluding Japan) businesses are finding it difficult or extremely difficult to fill vacancies in many technology roles. To cover skills gaps and scale development needs, leaders must take advantage of low-code, no-code platforms.

Business leaders want and need to enable their workforces to future-proof digital business requirements. Equipping all employees with the necessary tools can give every worker the ability to deliver digital solutions to solve everyday problems.

A low-code, no-code platform can empower those with minimal coding experience to build applications and create workflows—without relying on support from professional developers or IT. With low-code, no-code, employees can solve small issues themselves, leading to the rapid development of solutions closely aligned to business needs.

Integrating business processes

More than
55% of APAC organizations consider low-code, no-code an essential development environment for creating future-proof enterprise automation solutions, according to recent
IDC research. With that in mind, it’s more important than ever to choose a platform that can both meet the organization’s current requirements and keep up with new trends in the region.

ServiceNow has been named an APAC leader by IDC’s inaugural MarketScape for APAC Low-Code/No-Code Development Platforms for outstanding AI solutions that meet the current and future needs of enterprises and workforces in the region.

According to IDC, “ServiceNow stands out in the market by focusing on establishing processes that link systems rather than depending on developers or spreadsheets. App Engine is a robust low-code tool allowing companies of all sizes to develop internal workflows and consumer-facing apps tailored to their specific needs. It streamlines and integrates every aspect of the business process while offering enhanced visibility and understanding throughout the entire journey.”

The report adds, “A particular strength is the use of local tools to modify and develop apps inside scoped applications, enabling seamless workflows, integrations, and analytics.”

A low-code, no-code platform can empower those with minimal coding experience to build applications and create workflows—without relying on support from professional developers or IT.

Empowering solutions to everyday problems

Our vision is to democratize app development for users at all technical levels while ensuring seamless integration between all apps on a single platform. ServiceNow’s low-code, no-code capabilities are designed to equip citizen developers with practical tools to build, deploy, and optimize digital features, regardless of coding experience:

  • App Engine Studio streamlines building and deploying applications on the Now Platform with app templates and built-in guardrails to jump-start fast, collaborative, and compliant low-code development among teams.

  • Creator Studio enables an intuitive approach to building request-based apps using visual drag-and-drop tools for configuration and diagrams or Kanban views for editing. Users don’t need any coding experience and can build entire apps within minutes.

  • Now Assist for Creator introduces generative AI capabilities to low-code, no-code development, reducing app development time by up to 30% and introducing seamless coding experiences. Instead of being restricted to prebuilt prompts, developers at all skill levels can tailor additional capabilities with code generation to achieve more with less effort.

Combined, these tools allow someone with no coding experience to put together an app that helps solve an everyday problem and seamlessly integrates with existing workflows.

For example, with just a few prompts to the built-in Now Assist AI, Shao T., senior manager of solution consulting for App Engine, built an app that takes coffee orders—customizable down to the type of drink and size—and starts the coffee machine. All he has to do is fetch the order when it’s ready.

Meeting customer needs

We believe IDC’s recognition of ServiceNow as an APAC leader in low-
code, no-code validates our commitment to creating a platform by builders for builders, especially in a region as dynamic and fast-growing as APAC.

This would not be possible without our strong partnership network. From value-added resellers and tech vendors to developers creating bespoke solutions on the Now Platform, our partners help us align our solutions to local needs and support growing self-reliance among our customers.

Their insights and on-the-ground expertise have allowed us to truly understand the issues APAC enterprises face, leading to solutions such as:

  • An app that manages workflow automations and a dedicated self-service portal for Standard Chartered that allows its group planning team to address 50,000 requests each quarter while saving almost 17,000 hours per year

  • A mobile app for PLDT Inc. and its subsidiary, Smart Communications, that allows employees to access the Sana All portal anywhere and anytime, resulting in more than 100,000 customer referrals and 150,000 fulfilled service requests

Outcomes like these help us continually evolve our offerings to keep up with end-user needs. Maintaining an active feedback loop with all our partners has been key to refining product offerings and aligning our roadmap to better meet the needs of APAC customers.
