Digitizing HR processes
The DB Group operates the largest rail infrastructure and rail freight transport in Europe. DB employs over 292,000 people worldwide in more than 500 professions. Nearly two thirds of its employees are based in Germany. Through the integrated operation of traffic and railway infrastructure as well as the economically and ecologically intelligent connection of all modes of transport, the DB Group moves people and goods.
As a green mobility service provider, Deutsche Bahn is strongly geared towards growth, hiring 20,000 to 30,000 new employees every year. The HR department is responsible for over 300 HR processes for employees, from onboarding to exit. The company was looking for a solution that would digitize these processes, helping to increase employee retention whilst reducing the operational time spent on everyday HR tasks.
Deutsche Bahn gave all employees access to HR information and services via a standardized HR portal called ‘Meine DB’. Thanks to the knowledge base, catalog, and various self-service features, employees can initiate queries and processes independently. AI search features help employees and HR service professionals find information faster and the portal provides all users with transparent information about cases and processing status.
There are plans to connect other areas within Deutsche Bahn in the future so that there will eventually be a standardized employee experience portal for the entire Group in Germany.
