  • Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns finds Azure Private DNS Zone resources on your cloud environment. Discovering some of these resources may require updating to the latest version of the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application from the ServiceNow Store.

    Pattern-based discovery and mapping requirements

Verify the Azure discovery prerequisites section in Microsoft Azure Cloud discovery using patterns.

Data collected by Discovery during horizontal discovery

Discovery populates the data in the CMDB when running the Azure - Private DNS Zone (LP) pattern.

    Tableau 1. DNS Zone [cmdb_ci_dns_zone]
    Field Description
Object ID [object_id] The unique Azure resource identifier for the Private DNS Zone.
Name [name] The name of the Private DNS Zone resource.
State [state] The operational state of the Private DNS Zone.
Number Of RecordSets [number_of_recordsets] The number of DNS record sets within the Private DNS Zone.
Install Status [install_status] Install status of the resource. Default value is Installed.

    CI relationships

The Azure - Private DNS Zone (LP) pattern creates these relationships to support Azure Private DNS Zone discovery.

    CI Relationship CI
Resource Group [cmdb_ci_resource_group] Contains::Contained by DNS Zone [cmdb_ci_dns_zone]
DNS Zone [cmdb_ci_dns_zone] Connected by::Connects Cloud Network [cmdb_ci_network]
Key Value [cmdb_key_value] References DNS Zone [cmdb_ci_dns_zone]

    Azure Tag discovery

The Azure - Private DNS Zone (LP) pattern collects tags and populates them in the Key Value [cmdb_key_value] table.

    Tableau 2. Key Value [cmdb_key_value]
    Field Description
    Key [key] Tag name.
    Value [value] Tag value.
Configuration item [configuration_item] References the DNS Zone [cmdb_ci_dns_zone] table.
