  • Configure tag policies that define the criteria for tag audits on discovered cloud resources or CIs. View audit results on tag quality and compliance on the Tag Health dashboard. You establish tag policies that support the scale and needs of the various groups in your organization so all users can benefit.

    Considerations

Follow a methodical approach when defining tagging standards to keep the count of tags low. Standardized tag policies improve the power of the Tag Governance app to monitor and manage tags across CIs in your organization.

You might need extensive discussions and research to understand the needs of all the varied teams in your organization. For example, finance teams might want CIs to be tagged based on cost-center allocations, applications assignments, and business purpose. In contrast, IT security teams might want CIs categorized by OS and security patch level as part of their vulnerability management plan.

Before you finalize your tagging approach, ensure that you have considered the following issues:
    • Tag filters that various teams will use.
    • The level of access that different users need.
    • Whether you need real-time checks.
    • Whether you need to synchronize tags with cloud resources.
