- Skills Enabled by Default: In Australia Patch 1, Now Assist in Document Intelligence skills are automatically enabled for new customers upon installation and for existing customers if the skills were never previously configured. This simplifies setup and accelerates value realization.
- Document and Visual Insights AI Agent Improvements: The AI agent now supports citation viewing across multiple attachments and consolidates tools for better performance. Additionally, the attachment summarization feature supports larger files, increasing the limit from 10MB to 20MB.
- Now Assist Skill Kit Integration: Customers can create skills with extraction, question answering, and summarization using document and visual intelligence capabilities, enhancing customization and workflow automation.
- UI Enhancements: The extraction review panel banner label has been updated from “Document Q&A” to “Extracted data” for clearer user guidance.
- AI Platform Licensing Tiers: The ServiceNow AI Platform now offers three licensing tiers—Foundation, Advanced, and Prime—providing tailored access to AI features, skills, workflows, and agents based on customer entitlements.
Activation and Plugin Information
Now Assist features are activated through the installation of relevant Now Assist plugins from the ServiceNow Store, covering a wide range of business functions such as Accounts Payable, Customer Service Management, HR Service Delivery, IT Service Management, and more. Activation enables integration of Document Intelligence capabilities within these workflows.
Note that the Document Intelligence Admin plugin (sndocinteladmin) is planned for deprecation in a future release, with Now Assist in Document Intelligence serving as its replacement.

The new default behavior works as follows:
- New customers: When you install a Now Assist product, designated skills are turned on automatically.
- Existing customers who are upgrading: Any previously unconfigured skill is turned on automatically (the skill was never configured and turned on, then turned off again). Previously configured skills that were turned on, then off, remain inactive.
