Azure Logic App pattern-based discovery
Summarize
Summary of Azure Logic App pattern-based discovery
The Azure Logic App pattern-based discovery in ServiceNow Zurich release enables automated detection and mapping of Azure Logic App services within your cloud environment. This discovery uses the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application to identify Azure services and populate both CMDB and non-CMDB tables with detailed resource information. This capability helps maintain an accurate and up-to-date configuration management database (CMDB) reflecting your Azure Logic App infrastructure.

Key Features
- Pattern Activation: The Azure Logic App discovery pattern is disabled by default. Starting with Visibility Content version 6.28.0, enabling or disabling patterns is no longer considered a customization, ensuring patterns receive updates automatically after upgrades.
- Discovery Prerequisites: Microsoft Azure discovery prerequisites must be met, including setting up Azure service accounts properly. Special configuration is required to discover Azure GovCloud (US) accounts using appropriate datacenter URLs.
- Data Population: The discovery populates data in both CMDB and non-CMDB tables:
- Non-CMDB Table: The
cmdbazurelogicapplogicapptable stores Azure Logic App details such as access endpoint, identity, location, provisioning state, resource group, subscription ID, tenant ID, and operational state. - CMDB Table: The
cmdbcicloudfunctiontable records cloud function details, including install status, operational status, location, name, and a unique object ID representing the Logic App workflow.
- Non-CMDB Table: The
- CI Relationships: The pattern establishes key relationships among configuration items (CIs), linking Azure Logic Apps to resource groups, cloud functions, and Azure datacenters to support comprehensive discovery and mapping.
- Tag Discovery: Tags associated with Azure Logic Apps are collected and stored in the
cmdbkeyvaluetable, cataloging tag names and values for enhanced resource metadata management.
Practical Benefits for ServiceNow Customers
- Automates and simplifies Azure Logic App discovery, helping you maintain an accurate and detailed CMDB.
- Enables visibility into Azure Logic App configurations, operational states, and relationships within your cloud infrastructure.
- Supports compliance and governance by capturing resource tags and detailed metadata.
- Ensures ongoing pattern updates without customization conflicts, maintaining discovery accuracy after upgrades.
- Provides specialized support for Azure GovCloud environments, accommodating diverse cloud deployment needs.
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns finds Azure services on your cloud environment. Discovering some of these resources may require updating to the latest version of the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application from the ServiceNow Store.
Pattern-based discovery and mapping requirements
- Verify the Microsoft Azure discovery prerequisites
- For more information, see the prerequisites section in Microsoft Azure Cloud discovery using patterns.
- Enable the relevant pattern
- The pattern for this service is disabled by default. Starting with Visibility Content version 6.28.0, activating or deactivating a pattern won't be considered a customization, and it will continue to receive updates. Patterns that were previously activated or deactivated will reset to the latest predefined version after upgrading while retaining the last active field value. For more information on enabling patterns, see Activate a disabled pattern.
- Configure the Discovery schedule to support GovCloud
- Discovering Azure GovCloud (US) accounts requires using a datacenter URL when setting up an Azure service account. For more information, see Set up Azure service accounts.
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application populates data in both CMDB and non-CMDB tables.
Data stored in non-CMDB tables
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application populates data in the non-CMDB table when running the Azure - Logic App - Extended Inventory(LP) pattern.
You can review the non-CMDB Azure tables by navigating to . You can also search the navigation filter for the specific pattern name.
