Azure Service Bus Queue pattern-based discovery
Summarize
Summary of Azure Service Bus Queue pattern-based discovery
The Azure Service Bus Queue pattern-based discovery in ServiceNow’s Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application enables automatic detection and mapping of Azure Service Bus Queues within your cloud environment. This capability helps maintain accurate and up-to-date configuration data in your CMDB and related tables, supporting better cloud resource management and operational visibility.

Key Features
- Pattern Activation: The Azure Service Bus Queue discovery pattern is disabled by default. Starting with Visibility Content version 6.28.0, enabling or disabling this pattern is no longer treated as a customization, allowing you to receive ongoing updates while retaining your activation choices after upgrades.
- Azure GovCloud Support: Discovery supports Azure GovCloud (US) accounts but requires configuring the Azure service account with a datacenter URL to properly access GovCloud resources.
- Data Population: The discovery populates detailed data about Azure Service Bus Queues into both CMDB and non-CMDB tables:
- Non-CMDB table (cmdbazureservicebusqueue): Stores inventory details such as batching enabled, partitioning, geographic location, message size limits, queue status, subscription and resource group identifiers, and references to related configuration items.
- CMDB table (cmdbcicloudmessagingservice): Contains key service metadata including install status, operational status, resource type, name, location, and unique object ID.
- Configuration Item Relationships: The pattern establishes relationships between the discovered Azure Service Bus Queue and other CIs such as Cloud Messaging Service, Resource Group, and Azure Datacenter to provide a comprehensive service map.
- Prerequisites: Ensure Microsoft Azure discovery prerequisites are met and relevant patterns enabled. Review and configure discovery schedules appropriately, especially for GovCloud environments.
What You Can Expect
By deploying this discovery pattern, ServiceNow customers can expect accurate, automated detection and inventory of Azure Service Bus Queues within their cloud environment. This leads to:
- Enhanced visibility into queue configurations and operational status.
- Improved CMDB completeness and accuracy with detailed attribute data.
- Effective relationship mapping between Azure resources supporting impact analysis and service dependency visualization.
- Simplified management of Azure messaging infrastructure through integrated ServiceNow workflows.
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns finds Azure services on your cloud environment. Discovering some of these resources may require updating to the latest version of the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application from the ServiceNow Store.
Pattern-based discovery and mapping requirements
- Verify the Microsoft Azure discovery prerequisites
- For more information, see the prerequisites section in Microsoft Azure Cloud discovery using patterns.
- Enable the relevant pattern
- The pattern for this service is disabled by default. Starting with Visibility Content version 6.28.0, activating or deactivating a pattern won't be considered a customization, and it will continue to receive updates. Patterns that were previously activated or deactivated will reset to the latest predefined version after upgrading while retaining the last active field value. For more information on enabling patterns, see Activate a disabled pattern.
- Configure the Discovery schedule to support GovCloud
- Discovering Azure GovCloud (US) accounts requires using a datacenter URL when setting up an Azure service account. For more information, see Set up Azure service accounts.
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application populates data in both CMDB and non-CMDB tables.
Data stored in non-CMDB tables
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application populates data in the non-CMDB table when running the Azure - Service Bus Queue - Extended Inventory(LP) pattern.
You can review the non-CMDB Azure tables by navigating to . You can also search the navigation filter for the specific pattern name.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
