Before You Begin
- Install ServiceNow Otto for IT Operations Management (ITOM).
- Integrate third-party alerts with Event Management.
- Gather connection and credential details for your vendor(s) as specified.
- Ensure you have the required roles:
connectionadminandcredentialadmin.
Connection Configuration Details
For each supported vendor, you need to create a connection and credential record within ServiceNow using the vendor-specific parameters. This includes:
- Agent name: Identifies the observability agent.
- Connection type: Usually MCP or API.
- Connection URL: Endpoint URL or MCP server address.
- Credential requirements: API keys, tokens, usernames, passwords, or certificates as specified.
- Required scopes/permissions: Vendor-specific API permissions or IAM roles needed for data access.
- Returned data: Types of monitoring data surfaced, such as alarms, logs, metrics, traces, topology, root cause analysis, and recommended next steps.
Examples of supported vendors include AWS CloudWatch (MCP and API), Datadog, Dynatrace, Google Cloud Gemini, Kentik, LogicMonitor, Microsoft Azure, New Relic, Prometheus, SolarWinds, Splunk, and ThousandEyes.
Practical Steps to Configure
- Navigate to
All > sysalias.LISTin your ServiceNow instance. - Search for and select the vendor’s connection alias as documented.
- Click Create New Connection & Credential.
- Complete the form with the vendor-specific connection URL, credential details, and required scopes.
- Save the connection to activate the agent for use by the analyze alert impact workflow.
What to Expect
Once configured, these agents enable ServiceNow Otto to:
- Retrieve rich observability data from third-party systems.
- Enrich alert and incident investigations in the Service Operations Workspace with detailed context, including root cause analysis and remediation recommendations.
- Improve operational efficiency by correlating external monitoring data directly within ServiceNow workflows.
Configure observability agents for third-party application performance monitoring (APM) or network performance monitoring (NPM) vendors. These agents are invoked by the analyze alert impact agentic workflow. You must configure connections to those vendors before they can be invoked.
After you configure the agent(s), they can surface information from alerts generated by third-party systems to help you investigate alerts and incidents in the Service Operations Workspace.
Connections to vendors use MCP when possible, otherwise they use an API connection. You need connection and credential information to complete the connection process as shown in the following tables.
Before you begin
- Install ServiceNow Otto for IT Operations Management (ITOM).
- Integrate third-party alerts with Event Management.
- Copy the connection requirements for the vendor as noted in the following tables. You will need these to create credentials and connections to the third-party vendor.
