Create a company event

  • Use company events to configure a live-streamed event.

    Before you begin

    • Role required: sn_cd.content_manager
    • To create and publish company events with greater efficiency, use a content template. For more information, see Create a Content template.
    • You can assign one or more content categories to the company event so employees can filter by category. See Create a content category.
    • Social engagement settings enable employees to view page count, select a reaction icon, or leave a comment. See Content engagement.

    About this task

    The company event content type is built using the Rich Content Editor and published to the employee portal via widgets. For an overview, see Company events.

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to Content Publishing > Content Library.
    2. Select New.
    3. Select Company event under the Choose a content format section.
    4. Select Continue.
    5. Fill in the fields in the New content form.

      Field Description
      Event content record name The name that describes the content you’re creating.
      Order The order in which the event appears in a widget. An event with a smaller value appears first.
      Active Indicates that the content is active and available for use.

      Field Description
      Location Physical location of the event (if applicable).
      Event start date and time The date and time when the article becomes available for viewing on the portal.
      Note:
      The article becomes visible to specific users on a set date, based on the published plan configurations.
      Event end date and time The date and time when the article is no longer available for viewing.
      Optimize performance for high traffic volume Supports an audience of up to 10,000 viewers.

      Handles high concurrency events on the employee portal home page by showing a pop-up modal if there’s a live company event.

      Field Description
      Headline The headline for the company event.
      Subheadline The secondary header for the company event.
      Featured image The image that appears in the company event and as a thumbnail in the News feed widget in the Employee Center Pro.

      4:3 ratio for images is recommended.

      Article content Link to assemble the body of the company event using the Rich Content Editor. See Microsites
      Content template (Optional) Option to use a preconfigured template that provides a content layout and generates a publish plan. See Content templates.
      Category Select one or more categories to associate with the event.
      Social engagement settings If the Content Admin enabled social engagement, the following settings appear in the form to enable employees to engage with the event:
      • Enable comments
      • Enable reactions
      • Show page view count
    6. Select Save and continue to proceed to publishing the event.
      If you change the Content template after saving the Company event, the system deletes the auto-generated publish plans and generates new plans according to the newly selected Content template.
      You’re redirected to the Publish tab.
