Summary of Understand the Content Operations dashboard
The Content Operations dashboard serves as a centralized launchpad for content authors with the Content Manager role in ServiceNow. It enables users to create and manage content, track engagement metrics for published content, view a content publishing calendar, monitor incoming content requests, and review ownership details for pages and widgets. Access to this dashboard is available through Content Publishing, Content Experiences, or Content Governance modules.
To enable the dashboard, administrators must install the Content Publishing and Content Governance plugins (with Content Experiences being optional) from the August 2024 store release or later.
My Content
This tab provides personalized metrics and views related to the content created by the user. The information displayed can vary based on installed plugins.
- My Content: Lists all content created by the user.
- Content Library and Campaigns: Shows the status of scheduled content and campaign content, including counts for content to be published, content expiring within seven days, campaign content to be published, and campaign content expiring within seven days. The expiration period can be customized by the Content Admin via Content Governance properties.
- Content Requests: Displays key metrics about content requests such as unassigned requests, requests due within seven days, requests in progress, requests in review, and requests ready to publish. The due date range is also configurable through Content Governance properties.
Publishing Calendar
The publishing calendar offers a consolidated view of upcoming content publishing activities, campaigns, and content requests by due date. Filters allow content managers to focus on specific categories:
- View Type: Filter by Content requests, Content Library, or Campaign Content (the latter available if Content Experiences plugin is installed). Content appears based on schedule records, bundle triggers, or due dates.
- Channel Type: Different colors in the calendar distinguish content by delivery channel, including mobile content, news, notifications, portal content, and to-do content.
- Page and Widget Filters: Narrow calendar display by specific portal pages or widget instances, with widget options reflecting Content Publishing widgets.
Note that content with no configured start date or set as "Always active" will not appear on the calendar.
Ownership
The Ownership tab provides an overview of content, pages, topics, and audience ownership, allowing users to filter views by specific groups or users. Role-based groups (e.g., Content Admin, Content Manager) and individual users with these roles can be selected to see the respective owned items.
- Owned Content: Displays content created or owned by the user.
- Owned Pages: Lists pages created or owned.
- Owned Topics: Shows topics owned.
- Owned Audiences: Shows audiences owned.
The Content Operations dashboard is a launchpad for content authors, where they can create content, view engagement metrics for published content, content publishing calender, incoming content requests, and review ownership for pages and widgets.
