Summary of View Business Application Details
This guide explains how to view detailed information about business applications within ServiceNow Digital Portfolio Management (DPM). It covers navigating key tabs—Plan, Build, Run, Risk, and Info—that present lifecycle phase data and relevant metrics. The information helps you understand how business applications impact your solutions and their current status, including retired applications.
Visibility of these tabs depends on your organization’s configuration and licensing. Admins can control tab availability, and specific plugins or installations may be required to view all data elements.
Key Sections and Their Practical Use
- Plan Tab: Displays roadmap details, backlog items, and summary cards such as total ideas, approved demands, and upcoming projects. Enables demand creation and tracking directly related to business applications.
- Build Tab: Shows project status via graphs and cards (e.g., active projects, projects overdue, and critical issues). When DevOps is enabled by an admin, flow and accelerate metrics replace epics and stories, providing insights into cycle times, deployment frequency, and lead times.
- Run Tab: Provides performance indicators including availability, incident counts, change success rates, and SLA breaches. With DevOps enabled, additional accelerate metrics like mean time to restore and change failure rate are shown, helping monitor operational effectiveness.
- Risk Tab: Summarizes governance, risk, and compliance data with risk ratings, compliance controls, attestations, issues, tasks, and technology lifecycle risk reports. Viewing technology lifecycle risk requires specific plugins.
- Info Tab: Offers general, non-editable business application details such as description, taxonomy, portfolio associations, contracts, and related business capabilities and service instances.
Status and Alerts
The workspace and list views display the current status of business applications. Retired applications trigger alert banners and show lifecycle stages as “End of Life” and status as “Retired.”
Licensing and Configuration Considerations
Your ability to view certain tabs or data depends on your product license and source application permissions. Admins can configure which tabs are visible to users, and enabling/disabling the DevOps system property changes the Build and Run tabs’ displayed metrics.

View information about business applications that may impact your solutions. Each Digital Portfolio Management (DPM) page presents the business application life-cycle phase information in tabs — Plan, Build, Run, Risk, and Info.
Status of business applications
When viewing the business application details in DPM, the Status of each item is listed on the workspace view and on the list view.
Business application information is displayed in DPM via the Plan, Build, Run, Risk, and Info tabs. If your organization opts to inactivate one or more of the tabs, then the inactivated tabs aren't visible to you. For example, if your organization doesn't work on planning activities and they inactivate the Plan tab, then the Plan tab isn't visible for you. For more information on how Admins can hide or show tabs, see Configure the Digital Portfolio Management experience.
